Welcome Post!

Hello blog-verse!

My name is Ceci Garcia and I am a 23 year-old St. Edward's University alumna, class of 2009.  I am a Communications major and Spanish minor living in Brownsville, Texas and dying to get back to Austin.

This is Brownsville, Texas.

This is Austin. Blame me for wanting to go back?!

It has been about a year since graduating from SEU and I still don't have a job. I have trained to be a student for 20 years and being a part of the workforce is something new. I must admit it has been somewhat of a rough transition from Catholic school to working woman.

So, what am I doing wrong?  Is my resume a mess? Maybe my cover letter sounds desperate?  It might. I am.  Do I bomb the interview?  I think some of these jobs should provide feedback after you don't get a job.  If you don't know what you are doing wrong, how do you get better?  Maybe I am jobless because most jobs require you to have sufficient work experience, because I don't. How you do you get experience if you are being rejected from not having experience? I have had a couple of jobs nothing longer than a couple of months. Most recently, I have been working with my dad as a "secretary". My unofficial company title is "Senior Crossword Puzzle Solver". Yep, I complete a crossword puzzle and a cryptoquip a day and I get paid $7 an hour. Putting my degree to good work? No, not really.

This is where this blog comes in.  This blog will chronicle my attempts to get a job. Hopefully some of you out there will be going, or have gone, through the same situations and we can whine together or you can offer some inspiration and advice.
